Matthew 21:42-46

Jesus then asked them what they should have known:

“Haven’t you read, ‘The same stone rejected

By the builders became the cornerstone?

It was marvelous and unexpected,

And the Lord did it’? Therefore I tell you,

The Lord will remove his deep Kingdom root

From you and plant it in the faithful who

Produce a harvest of good Kingdom fruit.

And the one who falls on this stone will break

Into pieces, and it will crush the one

It falls upon.” The Pharisees, awake

To the fact that the tales this Jesus spun

Were about them, wanted this teacher gone,

But he was the ground they were standing on.
